Curling Iron Recommendations

December 21, 2012

Question by O.G
Hey, I was wondering if you can recommend a curling iron which is safe for wigs but not too pricey. I am nervous to use any on my wig because I don’t want to ruin them. Any suggestions?

Here are a few of our preferred guidelines for curling your own wig.
1. The curling iron should be ceramic.
(hot tools or babyliss are our recommendations, not too cheap also not too expensive)
2. Keep the iron on a low heat setting to avoid burning the hair. Also, if you make a mistake on a lower heat setting it will not set as quickly, making it easier to re-do.
3. The hair should not be 100% dry as this will burn the hair. Dampen it with a very fine mist or wet finger tips. Just enough dampness to absorb some of the heat so that you do not cook the hair.
4. Do not hold the curling iron in one spot for too long, rather pass over each section 2 or 3 times til it sets than to hold it in one spot for too long and burn the hair.
